Weather has been stunning and hot every day. Too busy building a hen house in the beautiful sunshine to do a weather report.
The ferry strike happened on Thursday and was attended by a host of reporters. The supporters of the strike created a fantastic mood and showed support by singing and playing music throughout the day at the end of the pier. The ferry crew walked up and down the pier continuously.

Weather at 7.00am: Very warm with clear blue skies and still, very still.
Just fed the gulls with the kitchen waste - gone in a moment.
An Icterine Warbler, a very rare bird, was spotted in the Cape Clear Island hostel garden yesterday, resulting in birdwatchers dashing from all corners to see it; visit Wikpedia for info on 'The Icterine Warbler (Hippolais icterina) is an Old World warbler in the tree warbler genus Hippolais . Weather at 6am: Bright and clear. Warm enough even this early. Will be a very hot and sunny day today.

Afternoon: Sunny and warm. Evening: Mist rolled in but still warm.
10.30am mist is clearing and rain has stopped but still quite windy.
Weather: Heavy rain overnight. The doorbell was ringing continuously because the rain got into the connection. Can't see my hand in front of my face but, wait a moment, I've got my eyes shut.
Prophecy: I will finish building the chicken house today - weather will clear in the afternoon.

Sunday: 17th May 2009
12.30pm, Weather is gorgeous but still a little windy. A group of 30 walkers have arrived on Cape to do a ramble - excellent weather for walking.
10.30, Weather: the wind has calmed and the sky is blue. The odd drop of rain but I do believe that it will be very warm and sunny this afternoon and through into the evening.
Ferry should be on schedule but do check with the captain to be sure, to be sure.
